During our diagnostic, if we believe a fresh conversion from your original manuscript will give a meaningfully better result than continuing to patch the existing file, we’ll tell you before doing the work — even though a fresh conversion costs more. We’d rather you get a book that reads beautifully than a file that merely passes validation.

What Repair Fixes — and What It Doesn’t
Validation and repair fixes the specific errors identified during diagnosis — broken links, validation failures, metadata problems, and similar issues. It does not include a full read-through check of how your book flows and displays across every device and reading app. If the underlying formatting was built poorly to begin with, fixing the errors is not the same as guaranteeing a great reading experience.
If you want the complete package — an error-free file and confidence that it reads well everywhere, with complete metadata built in from the start — a fresh conversion from your original manuscript is the better investment. We’ll always tell you honestly which one your file actually needs.

Yes — any time you replace a file on KDP, Apple Books, or another platform, it goes through their review again. We re-validate against the same checks before returning your file, so it should pass cleanly, but the platform’s own review step still applies.

Fixing errors means your file passes validation and technical checks — it does not mean we’ve reviewed the overall reading flow and formatting quality across every device. If the original file’s underlying formatting was solid, fixing the errors is often all you need. If the formatting itself was poor to begin with, the errors get fixed but display quality issues can remain. Tell us during your diagnostic if this is a concern, and we’ll recommend honestly whether repair or a fresh conversion is the better fit for what you actually want.
