Your Kindle file (KPF) is a compiled, packaged format built specifically for Amazon's system — it cannot be opened and edited directly the way a source file can. Making a text change means going back to an editable source, correcting it there, then rebuilding whatever finished formats you actually need.
We make your correction in the ePub file, since it's built on standard HTML and CSS that can genuinely be opened and edited. Once the correction is made and verified, we deliver your updated ePub — and if you also publish on Kindle, we rebuild your KPF file from the corrected source, so both formats stay in sync and match each other exactly.

Kindle's KPF format is compiled and packaged specifically for Amazon's system — it can't be opened and edited directly. Your ePub file is built on standard HTML and CSS, which genuinely can be edited. We correct it there, then rebuild your KPF from the corrected source if you need your Kindle file updated too.
Tell us. If you ordered through Ebookifi originally, your source files came with your delivery email — check that first, because we delete project files 30 days after delivery. If your book was formatted elsewhere and you don't have an editable source, this may need to be treated as a fresh conversion instead — we'll be upfront about that before you order, not after.
Yes, if you have a print edition — mention it when you order and we'll include the update as part of the same correction, provided it's the same underlying text change.
No — the lifetime warranty on your original order covers mistakes made in our conversion work, at no charge. This service is for changes to your own content after delivery, which is new work rather than a correction of our error, so it's priced separately.
Within our standard 72-hour delivery window, and small text corrections are usually faster than that, since the file itself already works. Contact us if you have a specific deadline.
Possibly. After you upload the corrected file, Amazon reviews it again, and according to KDP's Update Your Manuscript guidance, Amazon can send updated content to existing customers when the changes fix quality issues such as misspelled words. Significant content changes are treated as a new edition and should be published as a new book. For print, a change of more than 10% in page count also requires a new edition.
